New Head of the Institute of Building Materials Science: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Inka Mai Appointed Professor at Leibniz University Hannover

The Institute of Building Materials Science is pleased to welcome its new head: On 1 September 2026, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Inka Mai will join the Institute of Building Materials Science as Professor.

Inka Mai studied Industrial Engineering and Civil Engineering at TU Braunschweig, the University of Rhode Island (USA), and Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden). After completing her doctorate in 2018 at the Institute of Building Materials, Concrete Construction and Fire Safety at TU Braunschweig, she became head of the research group "Rheology and Digital Fabrication". In February 2023, she accepted a tenure-track junior professorship at the Institute of Civil Engineering at TU Berlin. Her research has received numerous awards, including the Klaus Dyckerhoff Award for Early Career Researchers and the Berlin Science Award (Early Career), presented by the Governing Mayor of Berlin.

In September 2026, she will take up her position as Professor at the Institute of Building Materials at Leibniz University Hannover. The Institute looks forward to working with her to advance research, teaching, and knowledge transfer, and extends a warm welcome to Prof. Mai.
